31st January 2010 Welcome the New Year Ride NEW DATE
Cwm Ebbw 12km and 22km
Venue - Cwmcarn School
This ride will be ideal for members to catch up with friends (old and new!)
and a great opportunity for a training ride to bring horses back into work for the new season.
It will be a good introduction to Endurance for those riders whose New Year resolutions will be to try something new and exciting.
The Ride has a venue with a good hard standing (can be difficult to find at this time of year!)
There is good access to Forestry tracks above the Ebbw then climbing on a country lane to the ancient parish of Mynyddislwyn. Although there is some roard work there are stunning views and some going along verges depending on the weather! The route drops on a bridleway into some good going on a Forest track above Cwmfelinfach then coming into Cwm Hafod Tudor and picking up a good grassy track above Wattsville. There is then an option to cross the Sirhowy River (by bridge!) and enter the Sirhowy Country Park before circling back past the Babell Capel and crossing the road to pick up the Forest track again and continue above Pandy Park back to Cwmcarn!

21st February 2010 Wentwood in Winter Ride

2. 32km Novice CR
3. 27km NCR
4. 18km NCR
Mostly woodland and Forestry. Minimal Road Work. Good beginning of season training and fittening ride with spectacular views over the Severn Estuary and into South Wales

19th March 2010: Ride Organising Meeting
The Committee are holding an evening session on 19th March (keep watching website for venue) on "Ride Organisation2
......now, don't go into panic mode! What we want to achieve in this session is as follows:
Ideas for routes for both Social and Training Rides and possibly National Rides. If you ride a regular route we want to hear from you! Bring a map of your area if possible!
Ideas for possible venues- this may be your local yard or somewhere else that you know has accommodated vehicles for another Ride.......It may just be a local place you know would be possible with easy access to riding passing on information about what's involved in arranging a Ride
e.g. what helpers are needed - what "jobs" can help you learn about Endurance, how you can involve friends and family , other rewards from organising or helping at rides for De Cymru Group (honest-there are some!!!)
We do need some more Pleasure/Social Rides in the area and the Committee are keen to encourage and help ALL members to suggest ideas. Maybe you can work with 1 or 2 (or 3) friends and share the different tasks between you.
.......the worst bit is getting going- honest! Once the groundwork is done it gets easier year after year
Remember we want to keep routes open to riders as well- we need to use bridleways before they become overgrown and inaccessible- so come along with your thoughts and ideas!
